Description
	L-Carnosine (also known as carnosine) is a molecule consisting of the amino acids alanine and histidine.  It is found in significant concentrations in skeletal muscle tissue, heart muscle, nerve tissue and in the brain. Kirkman® offers the highest quality, chemically pure L-Carnosine available.  Our capsules are hypoallergenic, specially formulated for individuals with special requirements or sensitivities.  They are made from plant cellulose (pine) instead of the traditional animal gelatin shell. The specific biological role of L-Carnosine is not really known, but it is believed to have antioxidant properties and may also be a neurotransmitter.  Because L-Carnosine is a dipeptide, it may be neuroprotective or may support frontal lobe function in the brain. Despite the fact that little is known about the action of this nutrient, many doctors are utilizing the supplement with excellent reported results. Kirkman® recommends that zinc be taken with L-Carnosine for additional nutritional support.
