Kirkman's Peptidase Complete

Description

Peptidase Complete
Broad Spectrum Protease/ Peptidase Enzyme Formulation
With Dipeptidyl peptidase IV Activity

Peptidase Complete was formulated to provide more activity of the proteolytic/peptidase enzymes, than is found in our original formulation called Enzymaid™. This specialty formulation offers a complete combination of protease and peptidase enzymes for optimal breakdown of animal proteins (meats, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy, gelatin, etc.), plant-based proteins (including soybean, legumes, etc.) as well as peptides derived from milk/casein and gluten grains.

This unique blend of pure plant-based as well as fruit-based enzymes are utilized to provide digestive activity for a full range of proteins under the wide range of pH conditions, found in the intestinal tract. Peptidase Complete provides one of the most comprehensive digestive enzyme formulations with the ability to degrade a full range of proteins and peptides. Each enzyme in this specialty formulation works independently, but in combination with the other ingredients present, digestion of dietary proteins/peptide components of foods is very comprehensive.

EACH CAPSULE CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING UNITS OF ACTIVITY:

PEPTIDASE ENZYME (WITH DIPEPTIDYL PEPTIDASE IV ACTIVITY)

Peptidase enzymes specifically function by breaking down what is known as protein peptides, which are shorter chains of amino acids. These peptides, formed when proteins including casein and gluten are incompletely broken down, are recognized to stimulate opioid receptors in the body.

The peptidase enzymes in this formulation contain Dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV) activity. DPP-IV is recognized to specifically break apart proline-containing peptides (casomorphin, gluteomorphin and gliadomorphin), which are generally resistant to being completely broken down by other enzymes. DPP-IV is a type of peptidase enzyme that is commonly located on the epithelial brush boarders of the small intestine where it is specifically imbedded in the mucosal membrane of the lining of the intestinal tract.

Peptidase Complete has a balanced profile of peptidase activity meaning that it breaks the peptide bonds at the end as well as in the middle of the casein and gluten peptide molecule chain. This allows the activity of hydrolysis to be more equal and have the most complete digestion of the proteins and peptides from casein, gluten, soybean, etc.

PROTEASE ENZYMES

Proteases have the role of digesting large protein chains (called polypeptides) into smaller amino acid chains and eventually into single amino acids. The protease enzymes have a critical role of breaking down potentially antigenic constituents of foods.

A full spectrum of different proteases in Peptidase Complete provides comprehensive digestion of proteins. Proteins and peptides are complex and require multiple proteolytic enzymes to optimize their digestion. Having a number of specific proteases allows for different attachment sites and stability through a wide pH range.

ACID AND ALKALINE STABLE PROTEASE ENZYMES

Protease 4.5 15,000 HUT
Protease 6.0 10,000 HUT

Peptidase Complete contains a combination of alkaline and acid-stable protease enzymes that have a longer range of activity and function throughout the intestinal tract. These enzymes are known to be stable and to optimally function when exposed to acids in the stomach as well as the more alkaline environment found in the small intestines.

SPECIALTY PROTEASES

Bromelain (Pineapple source) 80 BTU = (1,000,000 FCCPU)
Papain (Sulfite-free Papaya source) 1,000,000 FCCPU

Bromelain and Papain are considered fruit proteases, which are clearly recognized and researched for their ability to have excellent proteolytic (protein digestion) activity. The bromelain enzyme is derived from a purified pineapple extract and the papain is from a papaya source. Research suggests that the bromelain and papain exhibit unique, but similar functions, making the presence of both desirable in a formulation. Another unique feature is the use of a sulfite-free papain extract in this formulation. Both enzymes are recognized to have a long history of use in digestive health and are known to be generally safe and well tolerated digestive enzymes.

USE OF PEPETIDASE COMPLETE

Peptidase Complete can be used for general protein digestion or when there are hidden, accidental or other exposures to casein and gluten when on a special casein free/gluten free diet. Intolerance or inability to digest specific proteins such as soy, might also present a situation worthy of trying Peptidase Complete.™

RECOMMENDED DOSE

As a dietary supplement take 1 or more capsules with meals or as directed by a health care practitioner. Start with a portion of the recommended dose and gradually increase to the amount that provides optimal digestion of protein containing foods. The dose can be adjusted according to the specific needs of the individual. With meals containing larger amounts of proteins additional enzymes may be utilized and with modest meals or snacks, a smaller amount may be sufficient to provide adequate digestion of these foods.

Recommended Usage:

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

It is generally recommended that enzyme supplements be taken at the beginning or early on in the meal to assure appropriate digestion. The capsules may be swallowed whole or opened and mixed with a small amount of food or beverage and taken prior to or at the beginning of the meal.

Peptidase Complete may be safely and effectively taken alone or in combination with other more broad-spectrum digestive enzyme formulation (like EnZyme-Complete with DPP-IV™ or Multi-Enzyme Plus™, etc.) .

SUGGESTIONS FOR STARTING SUPPLEMENTATION

The dosing for Peptidase Complete is based on the amount of foods ingested and not directly on the size, weight or age of the individual. It is recognized that significant variations exist in the dosing of enzymes. The recommendation is to start with smaller amounts of enzymes and gradually increase while observing for changes in gastrointestinal function. This will require making adjustments to find the dose that provides for optimal digestion. For general guidelines, however, a chart is provided as a starting point when using this enzyme formulation.

According to age Start with Maintenance dose
2 to 5 years 1/4 to 1/2 capsule 1 capsule (adjust the dose as needed)
6 to 12 years 1/4 to 1/2 capsule 1 to 2 capsule (adjust the dose as needed)
Teens to Adults 1/2 to 1 capsule 2 capsules (adjust the dose as needed)

Capsule Size: Number 1
