Ginkgo
Biloba is one of the world's oldest living tree species,
believed to have survived for 200 years. Ginkgo is considered
a sacred tree by the Chinese and has been used to support
good health in the Orient for centuries. Many of the ancient
uses have been further supported by clinical studies.
The
main active compounds in Ginkgo leaves are the flavoglycosides
and terpene lactones. These compounds are the marker compounds
which must be present in Ginkgo preparations in order for
the product to be effective. Kirkman uses a standardized
extract from the leaves of Ginkgo Biloba which has been
assayed and is guaranteed to contain 24% flavoglycosides
and 6% terpene lactones.
